IPS Rajiv Krishna Mittal appointed as full-time DGP of Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow, May 31: Uttar Pradesh has finally got a Director General of Police (DGP) after nearly four years. The state government has appointed 1991 batch IPS and current acting-DGP Rajiv Krishna Mittal as the full-time DGP of Uttar Pradesh. An order to this effect was issued by Additional Chief Secretary Home Sanjay Prasad on Sunday evening.
In fact, on May 11, 2022, the state government removed the then DGP Mukul Goyal from his post. After this, only acting DGPs were being appointed in the state. Opposition parties have been continuously cornering the Yogi government on this issue.
Previously, in the meeting held on May 26, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) had recommended the names of 1990 batch IPS Renuka Mishra, 1991 batch IPS Piyush Anand, and Rajiv Krishna. After deliberations at the government level on this panel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved the name of the current acting DGP, Rajiv Krishna, to be made the full-time DGP.
