Lekhpal in Jaunpur suspended over viral sugar‑price post
Jaunpur, August 24: A Facebook post about rising sugar prices landed Shahganj tehsil Lekhpal Ashok Kumar Yadav in trouble after it went viral on Monday, prompting swift administrative action as officials suspended him with immediate effect, causing a stir across the tehsil premises.
Ashok Kumar Yadav is posted as a Lekhpal in village Bara of Shahganj tehsil area and is also the Halqa in-charge of the concerned area. On Monday, he posted on Facebook about rising sugar prices. After the post went viral on social media, the matter came to the notice of administrative officials.
Taking action in the matter, SDM Ankur Kumar Verma suspended the Lekhpal. Although an attempt was made to obtain information from the SDM regarding the matter, he was unable to be reached as he was busy with an inspection.
Tehsildar Saurabh Kumar stated that Lekhpal Ashok Kumar Yadav had posted about the price of sugar on the social media platform Facebook. He stated that it is inappropriate for a government employee to post about government policies on social media in this manner. Taking cognizance of the matter, the SDM has suspended the Lekhpal.
