He said, “I pay my heartfelt tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his sacred birth anniversary, who, following the path of truth and non-violence, gave the message of independence to the entire world through Swadeshi and non-violence.”
The Chief Minister said that Bapu’s ideals, simplicity, and thoughts continue to guide us all in building a self-reliant and developed India.
In his address, Chief Minister Yogi said that Mahatma Gandhi led the movement in a democratic and peaceful manner, transforming it into a mass movement. His mantras for transforming the movement into a mass movement remain relevant today.
CM Yogi said that Bapu’s words, urging every citizen to make Swadeshi, cleanliness, and self-reliance their life’s mantra, still serve as a mantra today. In a country that was plagued by despair and hopelessness, under Bapu’s guidance, Indian society overcame that despair and enthusiastically joined the movement.
“It did not reach a few cities, but every village, every man, woman, child became a part of this campaign. The pledge that Bapu had taken in the form of independence, today in independent India, Prime Minister Modi implemented the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the dream of revered Bapu. This became the foundation stone of a clean India, a healthy India. Along with this, it also taught the lesson of women’s dignity”, added Yogi.
Chief Minister Yogi said that we used to look at the clothes of Gandhi Ashram with great curiosity in our childhood. This charkha is not just a charkha, but is the basis of India’s self-reliance. The vision of Gram Swaraj that Bapu had made, there were big claims, what was the truth, we left the villages neglected.
Today, fulfilling Bapu’s dream, villages will also become a base for self-reliance. To this end, the government has established Gram Sachivalayas in every village. Through Gram Sachivalayas, four to seven people are receiving employment opportunities within the village.
Yogi said that a society that respects and expresses gratitude to its ancestors, inspiring future generations to move forward, will surely have a bright future. New India is fully committed to realizing that dream today.
