Mathura gears up for grand ‘Krishna Janmashtami’ celebrations; CM Yogi to attend

Mathura, Sept 1: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will arrive in Mathura on September 3 for a two‑day visit to participate in the grand celebrations of Lord Krishna’s 5,253rd birth anniversary.

During his stay, the Chief Minister will chair a review meeting of the Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad and inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth crores of rupees. He is also scheduled to offer prayers at the Thakur Banke Bihari Temple on September 3 and visit Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi on September 4 for darshan and cow worship.

This year, Mathura and Vrindavan are set to witness a massive confluence of faith, with more than 7.5 million devotees expected from across India and abroad for the Janmashtami festivities on September 4. The Braj region has finalized elaborate arrangements, from temples to major roads and intersections, to accommodate the influx of pilgrims.

In view of the unprecedented crowd, the district administration has rolled out extensive measures for security, traffic management, sanitation, drinking water, and health services. Additional police forces have been deployed from neighboring districts, while hotels, homestays, and dharamshalas are being thoroughly inspected. Coordination with railway and roadways officials has been ensured to facilitate smooth movement of devotees.

To enrich the Janmotsav, large‑scale cultural programs featuring over 25 renowned artists will be staged across Braj from September 2 to 5. At the Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan, crowd control measures have been tightened, with only 600 pass holders permitted entry during the Mangala Aarti as per Supreme Court committee directives. Large LED screens have been installed across the city to broadcast live darshan for devotees.

Authorities have appealed to pilgrims to cooperate with traffic diversions, parking arrangements, and safety protocols, ensuring that the grand celebration of Lord Krishna’s birth anniversary remains orderly and spiritually uplifting.

This visit of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is considered important not only for religious events but also for the development of Braj. Administrative staff on alert, senior officials inspected the Janmabhoomi Complex.

In order to strengthen security, law and order and traffic management in view of the Shri Krishna Janmashtami festival, top administrative and police officials conducted a surprise inspection of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple Complex on Tuesday.

During this visit, Additional Director General of Police Suvendra Kumar Bhagat, Commissioner ( Mathura division ) Nagendra Pratap, Deputy Inspector General of Police Shailesh Kumar Pandey, District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh, and Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar jointly inspected the temple complex and surrounding areas.

The officials thoroughly reviewed the security arrangements, crowd control measures, and CCTV surveillance within the temple complex.

During the inspection, clear instructions were given to maintain extra vigilance at all sensitive locations. Keeping in mind the convenience of the millions of devotees arriving from India and abroad during the festival, the concerned officials have been directed to ensure smooth traffic management and complete law and order.
