Power-hungry state: Yogi govt extends relief as no electricity rate hike in 2026
Lucknow, July 02: The Yogi government has provided significant relief to millions of electricity consumers in the state by deciding not to increase electricity rates for the seventh consecutive year. Electricity rates in the financial year 2026-27 will remain the same as they have been for the last seven years. Significantly, during this period, electricity rates have not been increased by even a single penny, directly benefiting the general public, farmers, traders, and industries.
This decision by the Yogi government is being considered a historic step in the interest of electricity consumers, providing economic relief to ordinary citizens. Along with stabilizing electricity rates, the Yogi government has also significantly improved the power supply system. Power supply in the state has steadily improved, and extensive work has been done to ensure uninterrupted power supply from cities to villages. The government’s goal is to provide 24×7, quality electricity to every city, every village, every road, and every street.
This summer, Uttar Pradesh also set a new record in power supply. The state’s maximum power supply reached 32,673 megawatts, the highest ever.
State Power Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma shared this information in a social media post. The Energy Minister wrote that electricity rates in Uttar Pradesh have not been increased for the seventh consecutive year. Rates for all consumers will remain the same in 2026-27 as they were seven years ago, even when power supply is at its maximum.
