Supreme Court to hear journalist Richa Parashar’s plea against Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi, October 16: The Supreme Court will hear the plea of Richa Parashar, a pregnant journalist, in which she has alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pushed her inside the Supreme Court registry during the opposition march on October 12.
On Friday, senior advocate Gaurav Bhatia, appearing for the pregnant journalist, made a mention before a bench headed by the Chief Justice, seeking an early hearing, following which the court ordered a hearing on October 26.
When Bhatia expressed uncertainty about whether notice has been issued in the matter he mentioned before the court on Thursday, the Chief Justice said that notice has been issued in all the matters. The case relates to the October 12 march to the Supreme Court by opposition leaders, in which they filed a petition challenging the Special Intensive Revision.
The march occurred amid protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the voter list revision process.
Journalist Richa Parashar alleged that Gandhi grabbed and pulled her toward him while she was covering the march. His security personnel then pushed her, causing her to fall. She was later hospitalized. The Congress party has denied her claim.
