UP police eliminates notorious criminal in retaliatory fire
Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, August 5: A wanted criminal carrying a reward of ₹1 lakh was killed in a police encounter on Wednesday afternoon, marking another major success in the Uttar Pradesh Police’s ongoing crackdown on organized crime, police reported.
The accused, identified as Furkan, was intercepted by Shamli police during an operation. Officials stated that when ordered to surrender, Furkan opened fire on the police team, sparking a fierce gun battle. In the exchange, one constable sustained injuries.
Police retaliated immediately, and Furkan was critically wounded in the crossfire. He was later declared dead. Authorities confirmed that Furkan had multiple criminal cases registered against him and was considered a serious threat in the region.
Senior officers emphasized that the encounter underscores the state’s zero-tolerance policy against hardened criminals. The injured constable is undergoing treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
Police sources said Furkan’s elimination sends a strong message to fugitives and criminal gangs operating in western Uttar Pradesh, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to law and order.
