UP‑Made BrahMos giving Pakistan sleepless nights, says Amit Shah at the inauguration of UPITS
Noida, September 25: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said on Friday that today, Uttar Pradesh has developed an investment climate. The first priority for an investment climate is to ensure good law and order, a favorable industrial policy, and provide industry with incentives and facilities.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the fourth edition of the five-day Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) at the India Expo Centre and Mart here today.
On this occasion, he said that Uttar Pradesh is the largest state in the country and has a good environment for industry. He said that once upon a time, the mafia ruled Uttar Pradesh. After the BJP government came to power in 2017, the mafia was eliminated from Uttar Pradesh. He said that this is why today, Uttar Pradesh has developed an investment climate.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, having served three terms as Prime Minister, has formulated policies and effectively implemented them at the grassroots level. He said that based on his experience, the Prime Minister has demonstrated agility in making changes to policies and creating new ones, and has worked to make India an attractive manufacturing hub for the world.
He said that some people are trying to falsify India’s GDP figures.
He said that India has achieved a GDP growth rate of 7.8%. He said that even amidst so much global unrest, India has achieved the highest growth rate, maintaining and even increasing it.
He said that India’s resolve to become number one in every sector in the world by 2047 will be fulfilled. He said that electronic product exports have increased 11-fold compared to 2015. He said that 12 semiconductor projects have been established in six states.
Shah said that some people still consider this a dead economy. He said that those with deadened thinking cannot see progress. They see only deadness everywhere. He said that such people cannot see India’s progress. He said that we have signed agreements on foreign direct investment with Mauritius, UAE, Australia, the Four Nations Association of European Countries, the UK, Oman, etc. This FDI has multiplied the export potential of the industry. Despite numerous obstacles, we have maintained growth.
Citing the example of Uttar Pradesh, he said, “We visited the Defense Corridor stall. We saw the corridors in Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Lucknow, Agra, Aligarh, and Kanpur. Investment is pouring in for defense equipment and manufacturing, and this has led to the growth of defense production not only in Uttar Pradesh but across the country.”
He said that today, defense production has surpassed approximately ₹1,78,000 crore. He added that compared to 2013-14, defense product exports have increased 56-fold, and today, India’s defense products are exported to 80 countries. Uttar Pradesh has played a significant role in this. He said that the Yogi government has done a lot of work to create different corridors here and formulate favorable policies to connect them with infrastructure.
He said that today, the BrahMos missiles manufactured in Uttar Pradesh are giving Pakistan sleepless nights. This is the biggest sign of change. The AK-203 assault rifles manufactured in Amethi have given Naxalites and terrorists sleepless nights.
He said that there was a time when the SP and BSP were in power. Crime was a thriving industry here. Factories for pistols and illegal guns were set up. Vehicle theft was a cottage industry in every city. Chain snatching provided young people with the opportunity to acquire skills. Today, ten years later, the situation is different. The pistol industry has been replaced by a defense corridor. Vehicle theft is replacing vehicle manufacturing. A medical device park is replacing the chain snatching industry.
He said this is a huge change. Uttar Pradesh, which lacked the courage to host an investors summit in Lucknow, has now become a major driver of industry. This change is due to the double-engine government.
He said that after the formation of the Yogi government, all the hooliganism of the SP and BSP regimes has been eliminated, creating a favorable environment for the country and the world to set up industries here. He added that the problems of industrialists are being addressed promptly. Industry from across the country and the world is being brought in by rolling out the red carpet.
He said this has yielded successful results, creating millions of job opportunities for the youth of Uttar Pradesh.
He added that Uttar Pradesh’s airports, expressways, and various infrastructure projects have created a favorable environment for investment, and as a result, Uttar Pradesh is progressing at a rapid pace. He added that seven cities in Uttar Pradesh have metro services, the most of any state in the country.
He mentioned Bhadohi’s carpets, Firozabad’s glass, Kannauj’s perfume, and Banaras’ silk sarees, saying they have a unique identity across the country.
