UPSRTC workers try to set themselves ablaze over demands in Lucknow

Lucknow, June 01: According to the reports, four contract employees of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) attempted self-immolation on Monday in the Gautam Palli police station area of ​​Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Police officers apprehended them, preventing any untoward incident.

The station house officer Vipin Singh stated that those who attempted self-immolation included Mukesh Saini of Auraiya district, Gyanendra Rawat of Unnao, Nitin Srivastava of Kanpur Nagar, and Abhishek Singh of Gonda district. All of these employees are safe and the situation is under control. Investigations revealed that all of them were contract conductors at the Dubagga depot.

SHO further apprised that it is alleged that preparations are underway to integrate these contract employees into a private outsourcing system, a move they are protesting. In response to this, they reached the Lal Batti intersection on Kalidas Marg today and attempted suicide during a protest. However, the police arrived at the scene and rescued everyone safely and brought them to Gautam Palli police station, where they are being questioned.
