CM Yogi orders 60% budget expenditure within two months
Lucknow, September 27: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to issue financial approvals relative to budget provisions and accelerate expenditures in the financial year 2026-27. He said that as the first half of the financial year is coming to an end, immediate improvements should be made in departments where budget expenditures are lagging behind.
Chief Minister directed that 70 percent of financial approvals be issued in the next two months and at least 60 percent of the total allocated budget be spent.
Chief Minister was reviewing the budget provisions, financial approvals, and actual expenditures for the current financial year in an important meeting on Sunday evening in the presence of Finance Minister Suresh Khanna. The meeting reviewed the work and financial progress of the 30 major departments with the highest budgets in the state, point by point.
Yogi Adityanath stated that the objective of the budget is not merely to allocate funds, but to ensure their timely utilization and ensure their benefits reach the public. He directed the Finance Minister to conduct regular and point-by-point reviews of budget expenditures in meetings with departmental ministers. Any department facing obstacles in approvals or expenditure due to policy, procedural, or technical reasons should be resolved immediately. The Finance Department should also regularly monitor this and provide progress information to the Chief Minister’s Office.
Chief Minister also emphasized improving the credit-deposit ratio of banks to strengthen the state’s rural economy. He said that every eligible farmer should receive the benefit of a Kisan Credit Card. To this end, village-wise and farmer-wise mapping should be conducted to identify eligible farmers and connect them with banking facilities.
During the review of centrally sponsored schemes, the Chief Minister emphasized effective departmental coordination for schemes receiving funds from the Government of India.
He urged departmental ministers to communicate directly with the concerned Union Ministers to resolve issues related to pending funds and approvals, so that the pace of centrally sponsored schemes is not affected.
The Chief Minister directed that the budget be assessed based on actual needs and practical utility, so that funds are not unnecessarily allocated and their optimal utilization is ensured.
The Chief Minister directed all department heads and senior officials to regularly review the progress of development projects in the field and to make immediate improvements where the pace of work is slow. He urged departments to meet their targets on time during the remaining period of the financial year. While there will be no shortage of funds for development and public welfare schemes, it is the responsibility of the concerned departments to ensure effective, transparent, and timely use of the available budget.
