23-year-old woman found dead in Lucknow hotel room, police launch probe
Lucknow, May 28: The body of 23-year-old girl was found hanging in a hotel room in Charbagh, Naka Hindola police station area of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. The police arrived at the scene after receiving information, sent the body for post-mortem, and began investigating the case, police told.
The Naka police station in-charge stated that Gunjan Mishra (22), daughter of Pankaj Mishra, a resident of Mahewa Ganj in Lakhimpur Kheri district, was staying in room number 23 of Hotel Milan in Lucknow. Hotel staff became suspicious when she did not leave the room for a long time on Wednesday night, following which they informed the police. Upon receiving the information, Naka police immediately arrived at the scene and, in the presence of hotel staff, opened the door and entered the room, where the young woman was found hanging from the fan with the help of a scarf. At first glance, the case appears to be a suicide. The police informed the family about the incident and sent the body for post-mortem. The field unit team inspected the scene and collected evidence.
The girl’s brother said that his sister had left home on May 25. He inquired with relatives in the neighborhood but could not find any information. On May 27, at around 9 o’clock, he received a call from Lucknow’s Naka police station informing him that his sister’s body had been found.
