Trainee IAS officers inspect Shivri plant in Lucknow

Lucknow, May 16: As part of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation’s efforts to improve solid waste management in the city, a team of trainee IAS officers inspected the Shivri waste disposal plant on Saturday. During the inspection, the officers thoroughly understood the entire process of waste management, waste segregation, and scientific disposal operated by the Municipal Corporation.

During the inspection, SFI Jitendra Verma briefed the trainee officers on the process of collection, sorting, and disposal of the daily waste coming to the Shivri plant. He explained that the Municipal Corporation is disposing of the solid waste collected from the city in a scientific manner, which is both protecting the environment and strengthening the sanitation system.

Additionally, the trainee officers were also taken on an inspection of the MRF (Material Recovery Facility) center established by the Municipal Corporation. Here, they were briefed on the separation of dry and wet waste, the recycling process, and the system for reusing useful materials. The officials observed how modern technologies are being used to convert waste into a resource.

Trainee IAS officers Vidyanshu Shekhar Jha, Shweta, Aditya Vikram Agarwal, and Thanagai Arasan were present during the inspection. All officials praised the Lucknow Municipal Corporation’s solid waste management model, calling it effective and environmentally friendly. They stated that the Municipal Corporation’s work in the areas of sanitation and waste disposal is an inspiration for other municipal bodies.

On this occasion, the officials learned about various aspects of the plant’s functioning and discussed operational arrangements with Municipal Corporation officials.
