Mirzapur: Gangster Act invoked against 10 in gym conversion case

Mirzapur, May 19: In a major action, the Mirzapur police have filed a case under the Gangster Act against 10 accused in the case of alleged illegal conversion and blackmailing of young women through a gym in the Kotwali Dehat police station area of.

According to the police, all the accused were involved in criminal activities by forming an organized gang.

As per the police, this action was taken as part of the campaign against criminals being conducted under the direction of the Superintendent of Police Aparna Rajat Kaushik.

According to the police, serious facts came to light during the investigation of two previously registered cases at the Kotwali Dehat police station. A charge sheet has been submitted to the court in this case under various sections of the BNS, the IT Act, and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act.

Police investigation revealed that gang leader Imran Khan, along with his associates, lured young women under the pretext of training at the gym. It is alleged that young women were lured into relationships and blackmailed by making objectionable photos and videos. Allegations of extortion and forced religious conversion have also been leveled.

Based on the investigation by Inspector-in-Charge Amit Kumar Mishra, a case has been registered at Kotwali Dehat police station under the Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act.

Additional Superintendent of Police, City, Ritesh Singh said that during the investigation, properties acquired by the accused through crime will be identified and action for confiscation will also be taken under the Gangsters Act.
