New Delhi, 28 August: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday said that the construction of ‘Amrit Sarovar’ in the country has become a mass movement and many commendable efforts have been made for it across the country.

He had talked about the Amrit Sarovar in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ itself, four months ago. After that, the local administration, voluntary organisations and local people in different districts together transformed the construction of Amrit Sarovar into a mass movement.

He said, when there is a will to do something for the country, realise one’s duties, concern for the coming generations, then there also comes strength, and determination becomes noble. During the programme, the Prime Minister gave examples of Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka. He said that the new gram panchayat of Telangana is Mangtya-Valya Thanda, the village is close to the forest area. There was a place near the village where a lot of water used to collect during monsoon, on villagers’ initiative, now this place is being developed under the Amrit Sarovar Abhiyan and this lake is filled with water during the rains, Modi informed.

Prime Minister said that Amrit Sarovar, built in Mocha Gram Panchayat in Mandla, Madhya Pradesh, is situated near Kanha National Park and has added to the beauty of the area. The newly constructed Shaheed Bhagat Singh Amrit Sarovar in Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh is also attracting a lot of people, people have built a very beautiful Amrit Sarovar in Bilkerur village of Bagalkot district of Karnataka, he added. Narrating further, he said, in fact, due to the water coming out of the mountain in this area, people used to have a lot of trouble. Farmers and their crops were also damaged, so people of the village brought all the water aside to make Amrit Sarovar which solved the problem of flooding in the area, Modi added.
