Lucknow, Oct 30: Following its overwhelming success in the assembly elections, the BJP has now increased its efforts to win all of the votes in the civic elections. Civic are expected to take place by the end of November.
As a result, the UP BJP intends to undertake a voter revision campaign as part of its electoral strategy. People who are eligible to vote will be approached as part of this campaign so that their names may be added to the voter list. This campaign will begin in November and will cover every city and ward in the state.
State president Bhupendra Chaudhary and general secretary organisation Dharampal Singh have issued instructions to BJP activists, telling them that they will form a team and successfully execute this campaign. At the same time, the party is prepared to provide tickets to persons from various social groups in the upcoming election.
Recently, the BJP organised Pasmanda conferences at the district level to link the state’s Muslim population, and the BJP is also planning to grant Pasmanda Muslims tickets in this year’s civic elections.
According to Kunwar Basit Ali, president of the party’s minority front, more than 1200 ward-level candidates would be from the Pasmanda community, and the same trend may repeat again in the next elections.
At the same time, as part of the campaign plan, party activists will listen to PM Modi’s Mann Ki Baat program at the booth level on October 30. Many ward-level events will be organised by the party on October 31 in honour of Sardar Vallabhbhai Jayanti. According to BJP spokesperson Hero Bajpai, the party has already begun preparations for the civic elections and that the voter revision campaign, for which state office bearers have been told to serve the public throughout the year, is an exercise to add new voters. He stated that the party will seek to instil enthusiasm among its members ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Surendra Rajput, a Congress politician, has stated that the BJP engages in politics solely for the purpose of elections. By going down on the ground, Congress is fighting for the average man’s interests. The Congress party will also run in civic elections on local problems, for which party activists are mobilising at the grassroots level. The BJP just cares about winning elections, not about people’s worries and concerns, he claims.
According to political analyst Pramod Goswami, the BJP maintains the Sangh model and keeps its workers engaged throughout the year through activities. The party began planning for the civic elections immediately after the assembly elections, while the other parties lag behind. Although the Samajwadi Party is preparing for by-elections and the BSP is intending to fight all municipal seats for the first time, the BJP’s path would not be a cakewalk. The municipal elections 2022 are scheduled to be announced around November 15, as the terms of all UP local bodies expire on January 5, 2023.
