West Bengal govt launches statewide Madrasa survey, reports deadline July 5

Kolkata, June 6: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in West Bengal has directed the state to begin a survey of all madrasas in the state. The Navanna has directed all district magistrates to submit district-wise reports by July 5. The report has been directed to provide all information related to madrasas.

The government has clarified that this step is being taken to better plan administrative work and madrasa education. Based on the report, necessary steps will be taken to protect students, maintain madrasas, and strengthen the education system.

The government says that this survey will also identify any irregularities or illegal activities in any madrasa. If any irregularities are discovered, action will be taken as per the rules.

However, the state government has also assured that no madrasa will be closed on the basis of this survey, nor will students be deprived of education. Teaching will continue in madrasas as usual.

It is noteworthy that a few days ago, the state Madrasa Education Department issued a directive making it mandatory for all madrasas to sing ‘Vande Mataram’ during the prayer assembly before classes begin. This directive, issued on May 19, stated that ‘Vande Mataram’ would be sung every day in the school prayer assembly.
