
Monsoon stalls at UP-Bihar border, UP reels under heatwave alert
Lucknow, June 24: The weather in Uttar Pradesh is expected to be mixed on Wednesday, but intense heat and heatwave conditions will continue in several districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. Light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is possible in western Uttar Pradesh. Bright sunshine and humidity are expected in nearly two dozen districts of the state, including the capital Lucknow. Meanwhile, the monsoon is currently stuck at the UP-Bihar border but could arrive in the state within a week.
The Lucknow Center of the Meteorological Department has predicted dry weather in the western and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. However, light rain accompanied by thunderstorms is possible in Agra-Mathura and surrounding areas of western Uttar Pradesh. Partially cloudy conditions have also been observed in Noida-Ghaziabad, Meerut and surrounding areas since morning. The weather may change slightly after noon. Similarly, the eastern region will remain dry.
According to Atul Kumar Singh, a meteorologist at the Meteorological Department’s Lucknow center, the monsoon is delayed in Uttar Pradesh. This is resulting in mixed weather, with light drizzle and thunderstorms occurring in many districts, while intense heat and heatwave conditions are prevailing in some areas. However, the Meteorological Department claims that the monsoon may arrive in Uttar Pradesh within a week. After this, monsoon activity will begin, and there are chances of good rainfall.
Heatwave warning issued in 30 districts, including Lucknow
According to met officials, a heatwave alert in approximately 30 districts of the state, including the capital, Lucknow. The maximum temperature in Lucknow today is expected to be 39 degrees Celsius. A yellow heat wave alert has been issued for Barabanki, Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Gonda, Shravasti, Basti, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Sant Ravidas Nagar and Sonbhadra on Wednesday.
