Congress suppressed voices of democracy during emergency: CM Yogi
Lucknow, June 25: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Congress committed the sin of imposing the Emergency to remain in power. Today, the entire country is remembering the dark day of June 25, 1975, when Congress strangled the country’s democracy. To remain in power and prevent the implementation of court orders, Indira Gandhi attempted to take away citizens’ rights. This sin of Congress was a direct attack on democracy and the dreams of Baba Saheb. The current generation of Lalu Prasad and Mulayam Singh Yadav have forgotten the Congress’s whip and are doing politics under its shadow.
Chief Minister was addressing the ‘Loktantra Senani Samman Samaroh’ organized in Lucknow on Thursday, the 51st anniversary of the Emergency, ‘Samvidhan Hatya Diwas’. He also honored the freedom fighters on this occasion.
Yogi Adityanath stated that the Congress suppressed the voices of those who supported democracy, including political parties, the general public, and the media. What compelled the Congress to impose the Emergency? The only conclusion is that the Congress committed this sin solely to maintain its power and, to conceal this sin, attempted to suppress the voices of youth, political party workers, and social organizations.
The Congress princes are misleading the countrymen
The Chief Minister stated that during the Emergency, the powers of the judiciary were limited. The media was banned. Furthermore, the Preamble to the Indian Constitution was also changed in the dark of night. This was done by the same Congress whose princes are using a copy of the Constitution to deceive the countrymen. The current generation should be aware of their double standards. Therefore, by organizing “Constitution Murder Day” on June 25th, an effort is being made to make the entire country and the younger generation aware of this.
Mulayam opposed an alliance with the Congress
Yogi stated that the common people and political party leaders were groaning under the tyranny of Indira Gandhi. They were going to jail in support of democracy. The current generation of such leaders, Lalu Prasad Yadav and the late Mulayam Singh Yadav, is seen conducting its politics under the shadow of the same Congress party. Whenever the Congress attempted an alliance with the Samajwadi Party, Mulayam Singh Yadav opposed it. He stated that no matter what, an alliance with the Congress should not be formed. But his successors, aboard the sinking Congress ship, are bent on destroying Mulayam Singh’s legacy. Even today, these people consider it their birthright to act contrary to constitutional norms to weaken democracy and promote dynastic politics.
Our Responsibility to Democracy
He stated that housing for 4 crore poor people, toilets in the homes of 12 crore poor people, cooking gas in the homes of 10 crore poor people, free ration for 80 crore people, Ayushman Bharat facility for 50 crore people, 25 crore people rising above the poverty line – all these achievements demonstrate India’s strong democracy. On one hand, democracy is being strengthened under Modi’s leadership, while on the other hand, the Congress party, which has been strangling democracy for its own selfish interests, continues to make similar efforts today. We must all be vigilant against this.
State Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, Bharat Dixit, Gaya Prasad Sonkar, Ram Singh Kushwaha, Vidyaram Verma, Ajay Singh, and Omprakash Gupta, along with a large number of democracy activists, MLAs, coordinator Brij Bahadur, BJP regional president Kamlesh Mishra, metropolitan president Anand Dwivedi, district president Vijay Maurya, and intellectuals were present at the event.
