Premanand Maharaj’s disciple’s father robbed of crores in Mathura— Police smash gang, recover loot

Mathura, July 14 — In a major breakthrough, the Mathura police arrested four men accused of stealing ₹2.90 crore from the house of a disciple of Premanand Ji Maharaj in Vrindavan’s Sunrakh area, recovering ₹2.60 crore in cash along with a Volkswagen Virtus, gold and silver jewellery, branded watches, luxury clothing, mobile phones, gym and swimming kits, and the Tata Punch car used in the crime; the accused were allegedly preparing to flee to Dubai after securing passports.

The senior superintendent of police (SSP) Shlok Kumar revealed the incident in a press conference at the police line on Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Rajat, a resident of Faridabad, Alok, a resident of Kushinagar, and Prem Sagar and Hiren, residents of Surat, Gujarat. The SSP stated that Rakesh Prajapati, a resident of Gujarat, has a son who is undergoing initiation at Premanand Maharaj Ji’s ashram in Vrindavan.

In order to pursue a religious life, Rakesh Prajapati, like his son, sold his property worth ₹2.90 crore in Gujarat and began living in Sunrakh. He rented a flat. Their neighbor, Alok, runs a guesthouse. This led to Alok’s frequent visits to their home. He informed his associates about Rakesh’s large cash holdings and planned the robbery. On the day of the incident, Alok took Rakesh to the Maant area on the pretext of showing him a plot for a cottage. Three of his associates broke into the Sunrakh flat and stole ₹2.90 crore from the cupboard and bed. Anticipating resistance, the accused threatened to frame Rakesh in a false case and kill him. However, following his complaint, the police began searching for the accused. On Tuesday, the police arrested all four on the highway near Sunrakh Road. The SSP stated that the accused had obtained passports to travel to Dubai. Branded goods and a car were purchased with the stolen money. However, the police produced the accused in the court, from where the court sent all of them to jail in judicial custody.

The SSP Shlok Kumar told in the press conference that after purchasing luxury goods with the stolen money, the four accused were preparing to escape to Dubai by getting their passports made. However, before they could escape, the police caught them. After being produced in the court, all the four accused have been sent to jail in judicial custody.
