
UP GRP rescues kidnapped three‑month‑old within 10 hours, woman held
Mirzapur, July 24: Taking prompt action, The government railway police (GRP) Mirzapur safely recovered a three-month-old child kidnapped from the railway station within just 10 hours. A woman has been arrested and sent to jail in connection with the case.
The station house officer (SHO) Rajesh Kumar Verma said that on Thursday, Noor Jahan’s three-month-old son, Parvez, was sleeping in the waiting room on platform number 2/3 of the railway station. It is alleged that Meena Devi, a resident of Amoi, Kotwali Dehat police station, who was staying with her, fled with the child. Based on the victim’s complaint, a case was registered at the GRP station and a police team was immediately formed.
During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage and conducted inquiries. It was discovered that the accused woman had boarded the S-4 coach of the Magadh Express and was headed towards Etawah. Following this, the GRP Mirzapur coordinated with Etawah GRP and shared photos and videos of the woman.
Acting on a tip-off, the GRP Etawah detained the accused woman along with the three-month-old child from the far end of platform number 1 of the railway station. The police team from Mirzapur returned safely with the child, arrested the accused woman, and sent her to court.
The SHO Rajesh Kumar Verma stated on Friday that the child was safely recovered within 10 hours, thanks to CCTV footage and coordination between police teams. Upon finding the child, the child’s mother praised the prompt action of the GRP and the RPF.
