
Yogi Adityanath describes ‘trade show’ as platform to present UP’s industrial capabilities to the world
Lucknow, July 31: With an aim to establish Uttar Pradesh as a leading hub of global trade, manufacturing and exports, the fourth edition of Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) will be held from September 25 to 29 at India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida.
While reviewing the preparations for the event on Friday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described it as an important opportunity to showcase Uttar Pradesh’s industrial potential, innovation, products and export potential to the world.
The Chief Minister said that in the last three editions, the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show has served as an effective medium to connect the state’s products, enterprises and industries with the national and international markets. This event is no longer just a trade exhibition, but has become a global platform to advance Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Make in India” and “Make for the World.”
He stated that Uttar Pradesh is a state of “unlimited potential,” and the UP International Trade Show is the most effective platform to realize this potential. He directed that the event be widely promoted both domestically and internationally to attract as many investors, buyers, and visitors as possible.
It was informed at the meeting that this year’s trade show theme is “UP for Global Growth: Innovation, Manufacturing, and Exports.” The event aims to attract over 2,400 exhibitors, over 150,000 registered B2B buyers, over 450,000 B2C visitors, and over 550 international buyers from 85 countries. Besides, it is estimated that there will be more than 4000 MoUs, proposed MoU value of more than Rs 3200 crore and business inquiries of more than Rs 13,500 crore. The Chief Minister also directed to establish active dialogue with other countries including Singapore, Oman, Austria, Brazil, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia and Russia and ensure their maximum participation.
The Chief Minister was informed that this time there will be a comprehensive display of ODOP, ODOC, MSME, Electronics and IT, Defence and Aerospace, Agriculture and Allied Sectors, Tourism and Film, Renewable Energy, Auto and Electric Vehicles, Pharma and Health, Skill Development, Civil Aviation, Financial Services, Startups, Logistics, Food Processing, Handicrafts, Khadi, Textiles, Leather, Furniture and other major sectors, due to which the diverse industrial and economic potential of Uttar Pradesh will be displayed on a single platform.
The Chief Minister directed that the knowledge sessions be made useful for the industry, investors, and entrepreneurs. These sessions should include expert discussions on artificial intelligence and cybercrime, electronics manufacturing, banking and finance, solid waste management, new labor codes, food processing policy, road safety, e-commerce, global free trade agreements, MSMEs, and other contemporary topics.
He also said that along with business activities, Uttar Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage should also be a hallmark of this event. To this end, attractive performances of classical music, Kathak, folk dance, folk songs, bhajans, ghazals, and other cultural performances should be organized on all days so that guests from India and abroad can experience the cultural diversity of Uttar Pradesh.
It was also informed at the meeting that extensive coordination has been done with Indian missions abroad to connect with international buyers. Constant contact is being established with buyers from various countries, and efforts are being made to provide new global markets to Uttar Pradesh’s entrepreneurs and exporters through buyer-seller meetings.
The Chief Minister directed the deployment of Udyam Mitras (entrepreneur friends) during the trade show and increased participation of students and youth from local universities and other higher educational institutions to provide better facilities and support to visitors, buyers, and entrepreneurs.
The Gautam Buddha Nagar Police Commissioner, who joined the meeting virtually, briefed the Chief Minister on the preparations being made for traffic management, parking, VIP movement, security arrangements, and public convenience during the event. The Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority also briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of infrastructure and other arrangements being developed at the venue. The Chief Minister also requested that the operation of EV buses be ensured for the convenience of visitors during the event.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show is not just a business event, but an important step towards achieving the goal of a developed Uttar Pradesh and a trillion-dollar economy. He directed all departments to coordinate and ensure timely preparations so that the event effectively showcases Uttar Pradesh’s industrial progress, investment-friendly environment, and global competitiveness.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Employment and Industrial Area Development Scheme (SVIDY). He was informed that an Expression of Interest (EOI) was issued on May 27 for this ambitious scheme, which aims to transform the state into a national hub for skill development, employment generation, and industrial growth. The BVG Group, TCS, and Hiranandani Group have expressed interest. A team of officials has already studied the Tata IIS centers, while TCS has agreed to collaborate as the technical partner. Approximately 1,320 acres of land has been identified in 19 districts, and in the first phase, 17 centers will be developed through MSME, UPIDA, GNIDA, YEIDA, UPEDA, BIDA, and GIDA. The meeting was informed that under the scheme, nine regional hub-and-spoke models have been developed, with a target of providing skill training to approximately 1 million youth annually and placing 80 percent of the trained youth.
The Chief Minister directed the implementation of the scheme in a timely manner, ensuring effective coordination between all relevant departments.
