Lucknow, 01 August: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has achieved another achievement in the field of clean and green energy. Under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, the state has performed brilliantly in the campaign to make rooftop solar energy accessible to the public and has included 17 of its districts in the list of top hundred districts of the country. This achievement not only reflects the rapid expansion of solar energy in the state but also testifies to Uttar Pradesh’s strong progress towards energy self-sufficiency.

During the meeting, UPNEDA  (Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Development Agency) Director Ravinder Singh stated that Lucknow, the capital, has maintained its position as the number one district in the country, with 124,167 rooftop solar plants installed. This achievement was made possible by the large number of households adopting rooftop solar in Lucknow. Varanasi also performed remarkably well, achieving the 10th position in the country.

The positive impact of the ongoing solar energy campaign in the Prime Minister’s parliamentary constituency is clearly visible. Furthermore, Kanpur city, reaching the 14th position, is setting a new example for the adoption of green energy in the state’s industrial cities. The inclusion of 17 districts in the country’s top 100 districts is a testament to the rapid growth of awareness, government incentives, and schemes regarding rooftop solar in Uttar Pradesh. The effective implementation of various state and central government schemes, especially the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme, is enabling millions of consumers to transition to solar energy. The expansion of rooftop solar plants is providing significant savings on electricity bills and also providing opportunities for economic benefits by sending excess electricity to the grid. This promotes clean energy production, reduces carbon emissions, and strengthens environmental protection.

Uttar Pradesh is steadily increasing the pace of rooftop solar installations in the country. The state government’s public awareness campaigns, simplified online application processes, timely approvals, improved coordination between discoms and related agencies, and effective subsidy distribution systems have given new impetus to this campaign. The pace at which rooftop solar plants are being installed in Uttar Pradesh will likely position the state as the country’s largest hub for clean energy. The presence of 17 districts among the top 100 districts in the country and Lucknow’s consistent number-one ranking clearly indicate that Uttar Pradesh is leading the green energy revolution.
