Northeast and Northwest India set for wet days, weather department predicts
New Delhi, August 01: Heavy rainfall is expected this week at different places in the northeastern and northwestern regions of the country. Meanwhile, light rain is expected in Delhi-NCR on Sunday.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), light rain with moderate winds is expected at some places in Delhi-NCR between Sunday morning and afternoon. The same trend may continue at night as well. The maximum and minimum temperatures in the capital on this day are expected to be between 32-34 degrees Celsius and 25-27 degrees Celsius respectively. The same situation will prevail on August 3 and 4 as well. The temperature on these days is also expected to be normal.
According to the IMD, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, eastern Uttar Pradesh, eastern Rajasthan, western Rajasthan, and Punjab in northwest India between August 2-5. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over eastern Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in central India between August 4-7. Isolated very heavy rainfall is expected over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, the Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Odisha in eastern India between August 2-7. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura in northeast India between August 5-7. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra, the Gujarat region, Saurashtra, and Kutch in western India during the next 5-6 days. Extremely heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka in South Peninsular India.
During the last 24 hours, very heavy rainfall (30 cm) was recorded at isolated places over Gujarat region, extremely heavy rainfall (21 cm) was recorded over Madhya Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe and South Interior Karnataka, very heavy rainfall (12-20 cm) was recorded over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Coastal Karnataka, Meghalaya, heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) was recorded over Uttarakhand, West Madhya Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, Jharkhand, Lakshadweep and Nagaland.
