
PM Modi, CM Himanta review Assam relief efforts
Guwahati, August 20: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday and discussed the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction work and development agenda in the state after the floods.
During the meeting, which took place at Seva Tirtha in South Block, Chief Minister Sarma apprised the Prime Minister of the Assam government’s upcoming action plan to rebuild flood-affected areas, restore livelihoods, and ensure comprehensive rehabilitation.
Chief Minister Himanta Sarma stated in a social media post that Prime Minister Narendra Modi continuously monitored the situation and provided all possible assistance during the flood crisis. The Prime Minister assured the central government’s continued support in completing the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in the flood-affected areas.
Sarma also briefed the Prime Minister on the key initiatives undertaken by the state government in the first 100 days of its tenure. He stated that these initiatives are aimed at fulfilling the mandate given by the people of Assam.
The meeting also discussed the state’s broader development priorities, including accelerating economic growth, strengthening infrastructure, improving public services, and expanding employment and opportunities for the people.
Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister for his continued guidance and support, Himanta Sarma expressed his commitment to realizing the shared goal of a developed Assam.
