UP police guns down singer Baliyan’s murder accused in encounter
Shamli, August 31: Two absconding shooters in the murder case of Haryanvi singer Ankit Baliyan, each carrying a ₹50,000 reward, were gunned down in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh police on Monday morning, while two constables sustained injuries during the operation.
NP Singh, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh, said that Kotwali police were conducting a checking operation this morning. During the investigation, police attempted to stop two suspicious individuals. Both men opened fire on the police team. In the police’s retaliatory action in self-defense, both suspects were injured. They were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment, where a team of doctors declared them dead after examination.
They were identified as Mohit and Sumit, originally residents of Sonipat, Haryana. Both accused were involved in the Ankit Baliyan murder case. A reward of 50,000 rupees each was announced for these two. Police recovered two pistols and cartridges from them.
The Superintendent of Police stated that Rahul, a notorious criminal from Haryana, alias Golu, had sent them with money. He also gave them some money and a pistol, promising to meet two of his associates in Shamli. A total of four people carried out the murder of singer Ankit Baliyan on August 26th while he was leaving the gym.
The Superintendent of Police stated that Ankit had recently made a video album, which included the lyrics, “I will shoot you inside the court,” and this was the reason Ankit was murdered. This is currently under investigation, and the police are working on it. Ankit’s father says he is satisfied with the police action and wants the police to take similar action against the absconding accused involved in his son’s murder.
In a statement to a news channel, Uttar Pradesh Police Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Law and Order Amitabh Yash said that Ankit Baliyan was murdered near the Shamli police station. Examination of CCTV footage and questioning of local residents revealed that four shooters were involved in the incident. They fled on two motorcycles. They were relentlessly pursued. This morning, two shooters, Sumit and Mohit, were killed in an encounter with Shamli police. Sophisticated weapons were recovered from them. They opened fire on the police, injuring two of our constables. Investigations are underway into the remaining shooters and senior gang members. They will all be brought to justice.
