Lucknow’s Own Conquers New York Design Scene

Lucknow: Visual storytelling in Graphic was once considered to be a domain of the West.  But no more.
Lucknow’s own Ipshita Rajiv Krishan has not only forayed into this unchartered domain but has also made her presence felt in New York, around 12000 kms away from Lucknow.
Ipshita, who is a New York-based Indian designer whose work explores the intersection of culture, storytelling, and contemporary visual identity, is a name to reckon with in New York is the domain of Visual Arts.

A graduate of the prestigious School of Visual Arts (SVA), New York, she represents a new generation of Indian creatives building an international presence through thoughtful, research-driven design.
Her work spans branding, identity systems, editorial experiences, and immersive visual storytelling.
Ipshita seeks to create work that is not only visually compelling but also emotionally meaningful and culturally nuanced, said her peers while talking to Lucknow Journal.
Her work combines strategic thinking with emotional depth, drawing from both her Indian roots and her international experiences.
She has a long list of achievements which has brought laurels not to her alma mater but also to Lucknow.

“I see design not simply as the creation of aesthetically pleasing artefacts, but as a way of shaping perception, fostering connection, and giving form to ideas that matter,” said Ipshita.

Ipshita’s Sunburn Festival Rebrand was recognised at the Indigo Design Awards 2025, an international competition celebrating excellence in graphic and digital design.

Communication Arts
Her Sunburn Festival Rebrand was featured by Communication Arts, one of the world’s most respected publications dedicated to visual communications.

Graphis
Ipshita’s work has also been featured by Graphis, the renowned New York-based platform that has celebrated excellence in visual communications since 1944.

Creative Boom

Her work has been highlighted by Creative Boom, one of the leading independent publications covering innovation and talent within the global creative industries.

Ipshita has also been featured in Canvas Rebel, where she shared insights into her creative journey, influences, and design philosophy.

Now, for Ipshita, there is no stopping. More recognitions at the global stage are yet to be achieved.
