Monsoon rains lash Uttar Pradesh, heavy downpour forecast till Sept 6
Lucknow, September 2: Monsoon activity has intensified across Uttar Pradesh with the Meteorological Department forecasting widespread rain and thunderstorms from September 2 to 6, warning of heavy downpours in some areas, while showers are expected to persist in Prayagraj and adjoining districts.
According to the forecast issued by the Regional Meteorological Center, Lucknow, rain and thunderstorms are likely in many parts of eastern and western Uttar Pradesh between September 3 and 6. A warning of heavy rain has also been issued in some areas. The Meteorological Department has also advised people to be cautious about lightning.
Dr SN Sunil Pandey, meteorologist at Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur, said that monsoon activity remains active in the state. He said that due to atmospheric humidity and local weather conditions, rain is likely to continue for the next few days. Heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms are likely at many locations. Farmers and the general public have been advised to monitor the weather department’s latest forecast.
According to the weather department, heavy to very heavy rain is expected in Banda, Lalitpur, Jhansi, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, and surrounding areas.
Rain and thunderstorms are also expected in several districts, including Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Prayagraj, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Jaunpur, and Azamgarh.
The weather department has advised avoiding standing in open spaces, fields, and under trees during the rain. People have been advised to stay in a safe place in case of heavy rain and thunderstorms. Farmers have also been advised to carry out necessary field work, taking into account the weather conditions.
According to Dr Pandey, the drop in temperatures during the rainy season can provide relief from humidity and heat. However, localized problems such as waterlogging and traffic disruptions may arise during heavy rains.
