Panic as Gorakhpur–Gujarat double -decker bus catches fire in Lucknow
Lucknow, September 6: Panic erupted on Sunday when a double-decker bus, travelling from Gorakhpur to Gujarat, was caught fire on Shaheed Path in Lucknow. Upon receiving information about the fire in front of Medanta Hospital, police and fire brigade teams arrived at the scene and immediately began rescue and relief operations.
According to preliminary information, a tyre of the bus caught fire while it was moving, which quickly engulfed the rear portion of the bus. The rapid spread of the fire caused panic among the passengers. However, all 30 passengers were safely evacuated from the bus in time. No casualties have been reported in the accident. Some passengers’ luggage has been reported burnt.
Upon receiving the information, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Assistant Commissioner of Police (Gosaiganj), and Sushant Golf City Police Station in-charge arrived at the scene with a police team. The fire brigade team acted promptly and brought the fire under control.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar stated that the accident occurred due to a tire burst.
Following the accident, long queues of vehicles were witnessed leading to traffic diversion on Shaheed Path for some time for the ease of vehicular movement and safety reasons. Police remained deployed at the scene.
According to the police, the situation is currently normal and under control. There are no casualties.
