From Stream to Screen: Mirzapur’s cinematic debut packs a punch

Long-awaited, ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ has finally released in theaters, and the film has had a strong opening day. Produced by Excel Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios, the film collected ₹27.85 crore (approximately $2.6 million) in Hindi and ₹2.6 million (approximately $2.6 million) in Telugu, taking the total opening day to ₹28.11 crore (approximately $2.8 million). Starring Ali Fazal, Divyendu, and super-talented Pankaj Tripathi, the film brings the world of the popular web series ‘Mirzapur’ to the big screen for the first time.

The film appears to be benefiting from positive audience response and strong word of mouth. Housefull shows in many locations and enthusiastic audiences have further strengthened its opening. This opening day collection reflects the popularity of the franchise, which has transitioned from the small screen to the big screen. The film is also expected to benefit from the festival weekend, which could further boost its earnings in the coming days.

The film stars Ali Fazal, Divyendu, and Pankaj Tripathi, along with Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Duggal, Mohit Malik, Sheeba Chaddha, Rajesh Tailang, Pramod Pathak, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Shweta Tripathi, and Sonal Chauhan.

Directed by Gurmeet Singh, the film’s story and screenplay are written by Puneet Krishna. Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar are producing, while Qasim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani are co-producers. “Mirzapur: The Movie” released in theaters on September 4 in Hindi and Telugu.
