Illegal house of rape accused Khalil flattened in Lakhimpur Kheri
Lakhimpur Kheri, September 9: The Lakhimpur Kheri district administration on Wednesday demolished the illegal house in Singahi police station area, of Khalil, accused of raping a four‑year‑old girl, which had been built by encroaching government road land, following prior eviction orders passed at both administrative and judicial levels.
According to reports, a case of rape of a four-year-old girl by Khalil (65) after luring her with money came to light last Sunday in the Singahi police station area. Following the incident, the victim was admitted to a hospital in Lucknow in critical condition for better treatment.
The incident sparked widespread anger among local villagers. The angry public and family demanded strict action against the accused, as well as the demolition of her illegal house. Taking the matter seriously, the police initiated action against the accused.
Following the public outrage and demands, the administration sent a revenue team to the site to measure the land. The investigation revealed that the accused’s house was built illegally on government road land. Following this, the administration took swift action and initiated the demolition.
The sub divisional magistrate (SDM) Yaduveer Singh stated that the demolition was based solely on a previous court order. The court had already declared the construction illegally on government land and ordered eviction, which the administration implemented today by demolishing it with a bulldozer. A heavy police force was deployed during the investigation .
Two years ago, the Gram Sabha initiated the eviction and fine process for the land. The matter later reached the tehsil court. On July 15, 2024, the court of the then-Tehsildar Bhimchand declared Khalil’s house an illegal occupation and issued an order to evict him from the land and impose a fine of ₹7,560. However, after a copy of this order went viral on social media, local residents raised questions about the delay in action.
