Nimisha Thakuria death case: Assam police nabs prime suspect Aashiq Ali- BF of the deceased
Guwahati, September 26: The Assam police has arrested Aashiq Ali, the boyfriend of 21-year-old Gauhati University sociology student Nimisha Thakuria, in connection with her death.
Nimisha, a resident of Dharapur, was found dead late Friday night at Rudraj Kitchen Homestay in the Garchuk-Dharapur area of Guwahati.
According to reports, Nimisha left home around 11 p.m. to go to the homestay with a friend. That night, she reportedly called her mother and told her that her friend was assaulting her. Shortly after, the call was disconnected and her mobile phone was switched off.
Concerned about her daughter’s disappearance, the family immediately informed the Azara police. The police launched a search and later recovered Nimisha’s body from the homestay. Meanwhile, according to locals, screams were heard near the student’s homestay.
The Guwahati police has sent the body to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The police are investigating the events surrounding the case and the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.
