
Actors waive fees for ‘Raja Shivaji’, reveals Riteish Deshmukh, film nets ₹33 Cr in 3 days
The historical film ‘Raja Shivaji’ has had a strong start at the box office upon its release on May 1. Based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the film has grossed ₹33 crore in just three days. Meanwhile, actor-director Riteish Deshmukh has revealed that all the actors involved in the film worked without any fees.
Riteish Deshmukh explained that an effort was made to make the film with complete honesty and without any compromise. He said that Shivaji Maharaj’s history is so vast that it was challenging to encompass it in one film. This is why the entire team treated this project as a tribute, and all the actors worked without remuneration. He also revealed that Salman Khan played a special role in the film out of brotherhood with him.
The film features several prominent stars in pivotal roles. Salman Khan plays Shivaji Maharaj’s bodyguard, Jiva Mahale, while Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, and Vidya Balan, among others, play important roles. The film brings together prominent faces from Hindi and Marathi cinema.
“Raja Shivaji” has been released in both Hindi and Marathi languages to allow a wider audience to connect with this historical saga. Presented by Jio Studios and produced under the banner of Mumbai Film Company, the film is produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh. The film brings the life, struggles, and legacy of Shivaji Maharaj to life with grandeur on the big screen.
