
Auto driver accused of molesting a girl, held in Lucknow police encounter
Lucknow, May 31: The Lucknow commissionerate police has arrested an auto driver Sunny Yadav – wanted in a case of molestation, abuse and attempted murder of a girl, after an encounter in the Vikas Nagar police station area on Sunday.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) East Diksha Sharma informed on Sunday that the complainant had reported to Vikasnagar police station on May 30 that 34-year-old auto driver Sunny Yadav had made obscene gestures towards his daughter. When she protested, he used abusive language and abused her. He attacked her with intent to kill, causing her serious injuries and she had to be admitted to the hospital for treatment. A case was registered at Vikas Nagar police station based on the complaint of the victim’s family.
Keeping in view the seriousness of the incident, Vikasnagar police station was continuously conducting searches and raids to search for the accused. On Saturday night, a police team received information that the wanted accused, Sunny Yadav, was present near the residential complex of the Geological Survey of India, Northern Region, near Teedi Puliya.
Upon receiving the information, the police team immediately arrived at the scene, surrounded the accused, and asked him to surrender. In an attempt to avoid arrest, the accused opened fire with an illegal pistol, intending to kill the police team. The first shot fired by the accused hit the gate of the station officer’s official vehicle, while the second shot was fired towards a nearby field. The police team retaliated in self-defense, striking the accused, Sunny Yadav, in the right leg, and he fell down injured. The police team subsequently arrested him on the spot and transported him to the hospital under police custody, where he is receiving treatment. The police have recovered the illegal weapon.
