Bakrid-day murder accused Asad shot dead in police encounter, UP police constable injured

Ghaziabad, May 31: Asad, the main accused in the murder of 11th-grade student Surya Chauhan, who was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon on Bakrid in Khoda Colony area of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, was killed in an encounter by police this morning, police reported.

The Ghaziabad police had announced a reward of 50,000 rupees on Asad. A police constable was also injured in the encounter and has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police Dhawal Jaiswal said that on May 28, Asad and his associates stabbed Surya Chauhan (17) to death. Based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s family, police have registered a case against five people at Khoda police station under relevant sections, including murder. Police arrested three accused in this case on Saturday, while the main accused, Asad, was absconding. Police had announced a reward of 50,000 rupees for him. This morning, a police team received information that Asad was going to meet some friends in the Khoda police station area and was planning to escape with some money. Based on this information, the police set up roadblocks at various places and launched an intensive search throughout the area. Meanwhile, Asad and a friend were seen arriving on a bike. When police officers attempted to stop them, they opened fire on the police team instead. Police retaliated in self-defense, hitting Asad. Asad was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment and died during treatment.

The DCP stated that a police constable was also injured in the exchange of fire and has been taken to the hospital. Asad’s bike has been recovered, and the pistol he used to fire has also been recovered. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the entire incident and taking further legal action.

Surya’s mother, Saroj, said, “I want to see Asad’s photo. Only after seeing the photo will I feel at peace. The others should also be encountered in the same manner. Seven people did this to my son; bulldozers should be run on all their homes.” Surya Chauhan’s neighbor, Ankit, said, “It’s a good thing that the encounter has taken place, but now the further demands must also be met, and those six people should also be encountered. We demand that bulldozers be run on the homes of all six people, their houses should be demolished, and all their property should be confiscated.”

It is noteworthy that on May 28, Surya Chauhan (17), a resident of Navneet Vihar Colony in Khoda Colony, was admitted to a local hospital in critical condition. However, due to his deteriorating condition, he was transferred to a private hospital in Noida, where he died during treatment on Friday.

Surya Chauhan’s family alleged that on the afternoon of May 28th, someone called him and asked him to meet at a pre-arranged location. Family members claimed that when he went there with his friends, an altercation broke out, leading to multiple stab wounds in his stomach. Family members claimed that Surya ran for about 200 meters to save his life, but the attackers chased him and stabbed him again. A video of the incident went viral on social media, prompting Hindu organizations to speak out. On Saturday, Surya Chauhan’s family staged a road blockade with his body. After much persuasion by district administration and police officials, they performed Surya’s last rites on Saturday evening.
