Expansion of modern facilities in Ramnagari, including dormitories, shopping complexes, and public toilets

Ayodhya, July 3: The Uttar Pradesh government has launched a major initiative to ease travel and parking for devotees visiting the Ram Temple, with construction underway for a puzzle-type mechanized car parking facility accommodating 474 vehicles in the Ramkot and Katra areas; under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision, work on the smart parking project is progressing rapidly and is slated for completion by December 20, 2026.

The total approved cost of this project is ₹65.04 crore and is being implemented by the Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department (CD-2). Additional amenities are also being developed at the (B+G+1) level, including two dormitories (B+G+1), 13 shopping complexes (G+1), one public toilet, two security cabins, one pump room, one UGD (Fire and Domestic Purpose), and one office. This smart parking will not only solve the parking problem but will also enhance the experience of pilgrims and tourists by providing modern amenities. Construction work began on June 21, 2025.

Umesh Chandra, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department Division (CD-2), stated that the project is currently 57% complete. Construction work includes civil structures, retaining walls, brickwork, basements, water tanks, shop-finishing, and MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing).

Devotees will be able to rest in the dormitory

Parking has always been a major challenge for the millions of devotees visiting the Ram Temple area. After completion of this smart parking, traffic will be significantly improved. The mechanized system will allow for parking of more vehicles in a smaller space, significantly reducing traffic congestion. This project focuses not only on parking but also on multi-functional development. The dormitory will provide resting places for tired devotees. The shop complex will house shops selling local products, prasad, and religious materials, boosting the local economy. Public restrooms, security cabins, and modern fire safety systems will ensure the safety and convenience of devotees.

Special emphasis is being placed on infrastructure development

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made continuous efforts to make Ayodhya a world-class religious tourism destination. Following the construction of the Ram Temple, special emphasis is being placed on infrastructure development. Smart parking is an important step in this direction. This project will not only improve traffic management but also establish Ayodhya’s image as a modern and convenient tourist destination. Workers, contractors, and suppliers are benefiting during construction. Upon completion, new employment opportunities will emerge, especially in areas related to shopping complexes and security.

Crowd management will now be further improved, allowing devotees to reach the Ram Temple without hassle. After parking, vehicles can be easily reached by foot or shuttle service. This will also improve crowd management in the temple area. This is the first major mechanized smart parking project in Ayodhya. If successful, it could be replicated in other areas. The government’s goal is to make Ayodhya not only a spiritual center but also the most convenient religious tourism destination in the world.
