Brahmin community in UP is not only neglected but also insecure: Mayawati

Lucknow, May 11: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati said that increasing or decreasing the cabinet is a matter of internal political thinking of the ruling party. It would not be appropriate to comment on it, but overall its positive impact should be visible on the common people, poor, labourers, farmers, youth and women’s safety and respect. Otherwise, it will be considered as a political jugaad and an increased burden on government resources.

BSP chief Mayawati on Monday expressed her reaction on the cabinet expansion of the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh. Mayawati posted that it would be appropriate if the actions of the government and all its ministers reflected the feeling that all sections of society, especially the weaker sections, are protected and receive justice, which is the primary constitutional responsibility of the government and its ministers.

Referring to the recent murderous attack on a Brahmin leader of the BJP Yuva Morcha in the capital, Lucknow, she raised questions about law and order. She said that discussions have begun on the issue that the Brahmin community in Uttar Pradesh is not only neglected but also unsafe. However, under the BSP government, every section of society has enjoyed security of life and property. Justice and security were provided to all sections of society, including the Brahmin community, under the policy and principle of “Sarvajana Hitaaye and Sarvajana Sukhaye,” as is well known.

Mayawati demands impartial action on Saharanpur incident

Mayawati said that the situation in Lalwala village of Saharanpur district has become very tense due to a dispute between people over placing a picture on a piece of land and the subsequent clash in which several people from the Dalit community were injured. The police and administration should take immediate impartial action to control the situation there. Also, people of both communities are appealed to maintain peace and harmony and resolve the matter legally and not by force.
