
Three teachers suspended in Sambhal for forcing Hindu students to recite Islamic prayers, two booked
Sambhal, May 11: Three teachers, including the headmaster and assistant teacher, have been suspended for making girl students recite religious prayers at PM Shri Vidyalaya in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh. A case has now been filed against the suspended headmaster and assistant teacher in this matter.
The District Magistrate (DM) Ankit Khandelwal said on Monday that the PM Shri Vidyalaya is located in Jalab Sarai village of the district. It is alleged that the school’s headmaster Mohammad Anzar Ahmed, acting headmaster Valesh Kumar, and assistant teacher Mohammad Gul Ejaz were promoting religious activities in the school. They made Hindu students wear skull caps and female students wear hijabs. A video in this regard went viral on May 7. The viral video has been investigated. Block Education Officer Anshul Kumar visited the school on May 8 to probe the incident. After recording the children’s statements, the report was sent to the BSA Alka Sharma. In response, the BSA suspended the three teachers on Sunday.
The DM told that acting headmaster Valesh Kumar is accused of failing to inform higher authorities and neglecting his duties. Consequently, he has been suspended. A report has also been filed against headmaster Mohammad Anzar Ahmed and assistant teacher Mohammad Gul Ejaz at the Nakhasa police station.
A three-member investigation team, led by the Chief Development Officer, has been formed to investigate the incident.
He stated that the matter of attire and prayer will be determined only after a thorough investigation, based on the video and photos, and action will be taken based on the facts that emerge from the investigation.
