
Bundeli Folk singer, once accused in 2022 murder case, found dead in vacant drain in Jhansi, police probe underway
Jhansi, May 9: The body of a woman found on Friday in a dry drain between Mate Khirak and Chaukari of Pathakarka, Bangra, in the Uldan police station area of Jhansi district in Uttar Pradesh, has been identified as Bundeli folk singer Lovely, police apprised.
The police claimed that the woman was murdered and her body was burned to conceal her identity., also added that the hands and legs were scattered around the body, which gave an idea of the horror of the incident.
Upon receiving information, the Superintendent of Police (SP) city Preeti Singh, Circle Officer (CO) Tahrauli Asma Waqar, along with police from several police stations, inspected the scene and collected evidence. The body was sent to Mauranipur for postmortem.
They reported that liquor bottles, beer cans, snack packets, and a burnt mobile phone were recovered from the scene. A piece of a red saree and a dupatta were found entangled in the wires in the field, while the woman’s slippers were also found nearby. It is suspected that some people brought her there, killed her during a drinking party, and then burned her body to destroy evidence.
The SP Singh told that Lovely was a Bundeli folk singer and frequently traveled abroad for performances. She was also charged with murder in 2022, and was released on bail after serving nearly two years in prison. Currently, two teams have been formed to investigate the matter.
