
C Joseph Vijay becomes TN Chief Minister, Rahul Gandhi says – the state has chosen a new generation and a new thinking
New Delhi, May 10: Marking a new chapter in the Tamil Nadu politics, actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay was sworn in as Chief Minister on Sunday. Leaders of several major opposition parties, including the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, attended his swearing-in ceremony.
After the swearing-in, Rahul Gandhi congratulated Vijay, saying that Tamil Nadu has chosen a “new generation, a new voice, and a new thinking.”
He posted on the social media platform X that the people of Tamil Nadu have decided in favor of change. Rahul expressed hope that Vijay will live up to the aspirations and expectations of the people of the state.
The leaders of the Congress, Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M), and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) also participated in the swearing-in ceremony held at 11 am on Sunday in Chennai. These parties have supported Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vetti Kazhagam (TVK), in the assembly elections.
After taking the oath, Vijay thanked Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal for their support.
