CJP march footage shows protesters alarmingly close to Sansad Bhavan
New Delhi, July 30: New questions have arisen regarding the security arrangements around the Parliament House during the Parliament March led by the Janata Party (CJP) on July 20. Footage from five CCTV cameras installed around the Parliament complex shows a large number of protesters approaching very close to the Parliament House. However, the Delhi Police and the Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel were already deployed at the scene. When the situation escalated, the police took action, pushing back the protesters and detaining several people.
According to sources, Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) was in effect in the NDMC area of New Delhi district that day. Despite this, a large number of protesters reached close to the restricted area. The footage also shows pushing, shouting, and tense situations between the police and protesters at several places.
According to CCTV footage, protesters reached the selfie point near Rail Bhavan. The right pillar of the selfie point is clearly visible in the video. A large number of protesters are seen shouting slogans and demonstrating there. Police officers are seen preventing them from proceeding further, leading to several confrontations and clashes.
The footage clearly shows the Parliament House behind the Central Secretariat signboard, while the Parliament Annexe building is visible on the other side. The video shows RAF and Delhi Police personnel deployed within the security cordon. As the situation became tense, the Delhi Police took action, detained some protesters, and dispersed the crowd.
The footage has raised numerous questions about the security arrangements. How did the protesters reach near the Parliament House despite prior notice of the march and the imposition of Section 163? Discussion has also begun regarding the effectiveness of the barricades and security cordon to stop them at the initial stage. Security agencies are reviewing the entire incident.
However, Delhi Police acted swiftly to control the situation on the spot, preventing the protesters from advancing and detaining several people. The entire incident is now being analyzed based on CCTV footage.
