Gorakhpur horror: 10‑year‑old girl abducted, murdered; Constable arrested
Gorakhpur, July 30: Gorakhpur, July 30: A 10‑year‑old girl was abducted from the district hospital premises and brutally murdered, her body found under Chiutaha bridge on Thursday morning; police have arrested constable Abhishek Yadav in this sensational case, sparking grief and outrage across the city, reported police.
According to police, the girl went missing from the district hospital premises under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday night. Based on a complaint from her family, the Kotwali police registered a case of kidnapping and began an investigation. During the probe, CCTV footage from the hospital premises and surrounding areas was examined, revealing a young man in police uniform carrying the girl on his bike.
Based on the footage and other technical evidence, the man was identified as constable Abhishek Yadav, posted in Gorakhpur. Police detained him and began questioning him. Although the accused claims innocence, but the police told they have sufficient evidence against him and are rapidly advancing the investigation.
Meanwhile, the discovery of the girl’s body under the Chiuta Bridge on Thursday morning further escalated the case. Following the discovery, police added murder charges to the case. Preliminary investigations suggest the girl may have been brutally assaulted, although official confirmation of this will only be possible after the post-mortem report and forensic examination.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Kaustubh stated that prima facie it appears the girl was abducted maliciously. The accused constable has been arrested and will be prosecuted under the National Security Act (NSA). A report has been submitted to the government seeking his dismissal from police service.
The SSP stated that the police are thoroughly investigating every aspect of this heinous crime. Further charges and necessary legal action will be taken after receiving the post-mortem and forensic reports. The incident has raised serious questions about the security arrangements at the district hospital and the police’s performance. Meanwhile, the family is inconsolable, and demands for the harshest punishment for the accused are rising throughout the region.
