Athletes to secure govt jobs through direct recruitment, says Yogi

Lucknow, October 16: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulating the people of the state on the sixth day of Shardiya Navratri has said that the Goddesses Katyayani, who destroys all obstacles and demonic tendencies, is a symbol of the indomitable courage, unwavering resolve and invincible valor of women power.

Informing about the changes brought about in the state through faith, development and heritage, the Chief Minister said that now direct recruitment of players is taking place in the state under the ‘Bring a Medal, Get a Position’ scheme.

Chief Minister took a dig at the tenure of the previous government in a post on the social media account ‘X’ on Friday. He said that before 2017, the state was plagued by fear and chaos, where daughters’ dreams were guarded, their courage was restricted, and talent was forced to die due to lack of opportunity. Playgrounds were controlled by the mafia, resources were scarce, and instead of giving wings to daughters’ dreams, their dreams were confined within four walls.

Yogi also pointed out the changes that have occurred since 2017. He said that in the last nine and a half years, a new saga of change has been written in the state. Security has replaced fear, encouragement has replaced neglect, and the expansion of sports facilities has replaced lack of resources. From village playgrounds and block-level mini stadiums to district-level stadiums, division-level sports colleges, and the Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut, daughters are now finding a strong foundation to hone their talents.

The Chief Minister stated that Olympic, Commonwealth, and Asian Games medalists are being provided prizes worth lakhs and crores, as well as facilities like direct recruitment under the “Bring a Medal, Get a Post” scheme. The government is encouraging athletes’ talent, honoring their achievements, and providing security for their future. The echo of this change is also being heard on international sports platforms. Parul Chaudhary, Priyanka Goswami, Prachi Chaudhary, and Annu Rani in athletics, Asmita Dey in judo, Deepti Sharma and Meghna Singh in cricket, Vandana Kataria in hockey, and Divya Kakran in wrestling have brought glory to the state and the country internationally with their stellar performances at the Commonwealth and Asian Games.
