Family massacre in Prayagraj: Son and accomplice kill parents and sister, accomplice later kills son
Prayagraj, June 3: The Prayagraj police commissionerate solved the murder case of four family members, revealing that businessman Virendra Vaishya’s son Abhishek, along with his friend, killed his father, mother Ankita, and sister Meenakshi over jewellery worth ₹1.5 crore, but after a dispute over its division, the friend also murdered Abhishek; police have arrested the accused accomplice.
Police Commissioner Jogendra Kumar Singh stated that the arrested accused is Sunny Gupta, a resident of Mahaviran Gali in the Mutthiganj police station area. Based on his information, the murder weapon, an iron rod, and jewelry worth approximately 1.5 crore rupees were recovered.
On Tuesday, the bodies of Virendra Vaishya, his wife Anita Vaishya, and their daughter Meenakshi Vaishya, residents of Hewett Square in the Kotwali police station area of Prayagraj district, were found inside their home, and Abhishek Vaishya’s body was found in the shop downstairs.
According to the police, the accused, Sunny, owned a samosa shop in Virendra Vaishya’s market. The accused was close friends with Virendra’s son, Abhishek, and they often dined together. During interrogation, it was revealed that Abhishek was heavily in debt and his father had evicted him from the property. This was a frequent issue between Abhishek and his father. Consequently, Abhishek, along with Sunny, hatched a murder plan. On the night of May 31, Abhishek ordered beer and shortbread from Sunny, and they ate and drank together. Abhishek then first killed his sister with a rod, followed by his mother, Anita, and his father. To mislead the police, Abhishek wrote on a note that “Bunty and Babli were killed by their daughter-in-law.” This would put all the blame on Abhishek’s brother, Ashwini. After the murder, Abhishek took out jewelry worth approximately 1.5 crore rupees from the cupboard and went downstairs with Sunny to his shop.
Abhishek then gave Sunny some jewelry and told him to leave. Sunny Gupta changed his mind over this division and, in his greed for the 1.5 crore rupees worth of jewelry, stabbed Abhishek inside the shop with the same rod. After killing Abhishek, Sunny put the jewelry in a bag and washed the body with detergent powder to destroy the evidence. He then fled. The police investigating the case arrested Sunny with the help of CCTV cameras.
