Officials confirm 21 fatalities in tragic Delhi restaurant blaze
New Delhi, June 3: At least, twenty-one people have been confirmed dead in a fire that broke out at the Flourish Stay B&B restaurant in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area on Wednesday morning. Forty people have been rescued safely. Eight fire engines, with the help of police and local residents, brought the fire under control.
The massive fire caused panic in the area for hours. The fire spread so rapidly that many people inside the restaurant and its adjoining premises were trapped inside. Upon receiving the information, teams from the Fire Department, Delhi Police, and disaster management agencies rushed to the scene and launched a massive rescue and relief operation.
According to official information, 21 people have been declared dead in this tragic incident. The fire has been successfully extinguished with the help of eight fire engines. Through coordinated efforts by police, fire services, and other emergency rescue personnel, more than 40 people have been safely evacuated and admitted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
Officials stated that this number includes all those rescued from the building so far. Detailed information on the number of injured and their condition is being gathered from the respective hospitals. The administration is in constant contact with the hospitals and monitoring the condition of the injured.
Fire department personnel also faced challenges during the rescue operation. LFM Yogendra was injured while extinguishing the fire and rescuing those trapped inside. He was immediately provided first aid. Meanwhile, STO Manoj suddenly deteriorated, following which he was relieved of duty and sent back to the station.
Given the seriousness of the incident, the Principal Director of the Fire Department also arrived at the scene. The entire operation is being monitored in the presence of senior officials. A joint team of the fire department, police, and other agencies is thoroughly searching every part of the building to ensure no one remains trapped inside.
According to officials on the scene, the fire has been largely contained, but the search operation is being conducted with extreme caution due to the smoke and heat. Rescue teams have entered the building and are inspecting every room and basement.
Following the incident, a large crowd gathered in Malviya Nagar and surrounding areas. Police have cordoned off the area for security reasons and are controlling public movement. The cause of the fire is currently unknown. The cause will only be clear after a preliminary investigation.
