“Har Ghar Tiranga” must become a mass movement: CM Yogi
Lucknow, July 31: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called upon the people of the state to actively participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and has set a target of hoisting the national flag in five crore homes this year.
Chief Minister has said that ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ is not just a campaign, but a national campaign to connect every person with patriotism, respect for the national flag, and the glorious history of the country. It should be transformed into a mass movement with widespread public participation. He also directed that the national anthem and national song should be compulsorily broadcast in all cinemas across the state on August 14 and 15.
Chief Minister Yogi reviewed preparations for the “Tiranga in Every Home” campaign, Independence Day, and Partition Horrors Remembrance Day celebrations at a high-level meeting at his official residence on Friday.
He stated that Uttar Pradesh has set an example for the entire country by successfully implementing this campaign with unprecedented public participation in recent years. He urged all government, semi-government, and aided departments/institutions, local bodies, educational institutions, gram panchayats, fair price shops, industrial and commercial establishments, and social organizations to hoist the tricolor on their buildings.
He stated that coordinated efforts will ensure unprecedented success.
The meeting was informed that the tricolor was hoisted on more than 41 million homes in the state in 2022, more than 45 million in 2023 and 2024, and 47.6 million in 2025. The Chief Minister directed that proper arrangements for the production, availability, and distribution of national flags be ensured in a timely manner. Self-help groups, Khadi and Village Industries organizations, MSME units, and local production centers should be involved in the campaign. The national flag should be made readily available to the public through ration shops, Gram Panchayat buildings, public service centers, tehsils, development block offices, schools, Anganwadi centers, post offices, petrol pumps, and other designated centers. It
was informed at the meeting that programs such as tricolor rallies, tricolor music festivals, tricolor exhibitions, tricolor-themed artwork exhibitions, tricolor-themed rangoli, lighting decorations, and “selfie with the tricolor” will be organized across the state. Major government buildings, railway stations, bus stands, airports, public places, major markets, and intersections will be decorated with a tricolor theme. Schools and colleges will organize photo exhibitions on freedom fighters, singing of Vande Mataram, drawing competitions, and other patriotic activities to connect the younger generation with the history of the freedom movement.
The Chief Minister directed that all events marking Kakori Train Action Day on August 9th and Independence Day on August 15th be conducted with full respect, dignity, and patriotism. From August 9th to 15th, special programs should be organized at all monuments, memorial sites, and martyr sites associated with the freedom struggle across the state. Proper cleaning, painting, decoration, and lighting should be ensured at these sites. Freedom fighters and the families of immortal martyrs should be honored. Police bands should also participate in the programs, creating an atmosphere of patriotism.
The Chief Minister directed that a special cleanliness campaign be launched throughout the state prior to these events. The contributions of the immortal freedom fighters should be widely disseminated to the public. Every citizen should be connected to the campaign through patriotic cultural programs, tricolor rallies, tricolor music concerts, and mass singing of “Vande Mataram.” Special programs should also be organized at Amrit Sarovars and village secretariats in gram panchayats.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for the Partition Horrors Memorial Day, to be held on August 14th. The Chief Minister stated that the tragedy of Partition should be conveyed to the new generation not merely as a chapter in history, but as an inspiration to maintain national unity and integrity. Programs should be organized that allow the youth to learn the true history of the suffering of Partition, the displacement of millions of people, and their struggle.
The Chief Minister directed that exhibitions on the horrors of Partition be organized on August 14th at every district headquarters, including the capital, Lucknow. Participation of designated ministers and public representatives should be ensured in each district. Families affected by the Partition tragedy, including Punjabi, Sindhi, and Bengali, should be invited to share their experiences. Refugee families from Bangladesh should also be included in the programs, and candlelight vigils should be organized with them. Through discussions, dialogues, and seminars in universities and colleges, youth should be made aware of the historical background of Partition, its adverse consequences, and the importance of national unity. For widespread publicity of the campaign, the cooperation of NCC, NSS, voluntary organizations, trade associations, local public representatives and various media should be sought, so that all Independence Day events are successfully completed with widespread public participation.
