New Delhi strongly counters Erdogan’s reference to Kashmir in UN address
New Delhi, September 29: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has rejected the references to Jammu and Kashmir in Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly. Terming these comments as inappropriate, the Ministry of External Affairs has said that the Union Territory is an internal matter concerning India’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and no outside party has any right to comment on it.
“India rejects the references to the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir by the President of Turkey during his address to the United Nations General Assembly. This is a matter concerning India’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and no third party has any right to comment on this issue,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at the regular press conference on Tuesday.
In response to another question, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the foreign ministers of India, Brazil, and South Africa met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Following the meeting, the three countries issued a statement. This is a joint statement reflecting the collective perspectives of the three countries. It addresses several economic, developmental, and political issues. Regarding India’s stance on Palestine, we support a two-state solution, as you are well aware.
