International cyber fraud ring dismantled in Lucknow; Key evidence and suspects nabbed
Lucknow, September 19: The Lucknow commissionerate police on Saturday busted an international cyber fraud racket, arresting 16 gang members including four women and 12 men, and seizing 36 laptops along with other incriminating items from their possession.
Deputy Commissioner of Police North Amit Kumar Anand revealed this cyber fraud in a press conference at his office on Saturday. He said that on Friday night, Aliganj police were patrolling the area when they spotted a suspicious man near Riddhya Plaza. When the police team stopped and questioned him, he revealed that he worked at Riddhya Plaza.
Acting on suspicion during a late-night operation, the police raided Ridhya Plaza and uncovered a cyber fraud call center run by absconding mastermind Priyanshu; 12 men and 4 women were arrested, including key aides Nehal and Ashish, who managed the racket by hiring fluent English speakers, training them, and paying ₹18,000–30,000 with free food and lodging, while fraud proceeds were funneled through gift cards, bank transfers, and cryptocurrency.
The arrested accused include Mayank Chauhan, Nehal Kumar, and Ashish, all from Gujarat; Vivek Singh, Aditya Kumar Singh, Shilpa Chakraborty, Rocky, Vishal, Tasina Gazi, Vishwajeet Mandal, Jennifer Lama, and Joitadas, all from West Bengal; Ayushman, Hasnain, and Rihan alias Faran, all from Mumbai; and Suhaib, all from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police stated that based on the interrogation of the accused and digital evidence, the role of other individuals involved in this organized international cyber fraud network is being investigated. The police team is conducting a thorough investigation and taking necessary legal action to apprehend the absconding main accused, Priyanshu, and other facts related to the cyber fraud. A detailed analysis of the recovered calling data, electronic devices, and other technical evidence is being conducted. Other accomplices, financial beneficiaries, and network members involved in the cyber crime will be identified and effective legal action will be taken against them.
The police team that made the arrest was awarded a cash prize of 25,000 rupees by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, North. Constable Vipin Kumar Verma was also awarded a separate cash prize of 5,000 rupees for his outstanding and commendable work.
