Lucknow: Constable posted in the police department dismissed from service
Lucknow, June 28: The Lucknow police commissionerate has dismissed constable Sunil Kumar Shukla from police service after finding him guilty of departmental indiscipline and repeated violations of rules.
The police commissionerate stated on Sunday that Constable Sunil had posted a video on social media in May last year, alleging a bribery network operating within the police department, from senior officers to guard commanders. He also accused officers of exploiting police officers, calling them “black British.” Police officials took cognizance of the matter and formed an inquiry committee.
The committee conducted an impartial investigation and recorded statements from the police officers involved. All concerned, including Constable Sunil Kumar Shukla, were given the opportunity to present their side of the story and evidence. However, Constable Sunil Kumar Shukla was unable to provide any evidence to support his allegations.
The investigation revealed that he not only publicly disseminated baseless allegations against senior officers, but also attempted to tarnish the department’s image without evidence. He promoted indiscipline within the police force, used abusive language against officers, and used social media without permission, violating the Uttar Pradesh Social Media Policy 2023, Rules 3, 6, 7, and 27 of the Uttar Pradesh Government Servants Conduct Rules 1956, and the Uttar Pradesh Uniform Regulations. As a result of this serious misconduct, Constable Sunil Kumar Shukla has been dismissed from police service. After the action was taken, the dismissed constable said, “Today I have been rewarded for speaking the truth.”
