
Lucknow police arrests ‘absconding’ home guard in twin-murder case
Lucknow, October 11: The Lucknow police last night arrested a Home Guard jawan who was absconding after being accused of murdering his wife and divorced daughter in the Krishna Nagar police station area of of the city.
The Assistant Police Commissioner (ACP) Laxman Verma stated that on October 9, Priya Sahu, a resident of Bhola Khera, reported that her father, Ravindra Shankar, was posted as a Home Guard. He had murdered her mother, his wife, and her sister due to a family dispute. The accused has been absconding since the incident. A case was filed against him in this regard. Following a tip-off, police arrested the accused last night.
The ACP further apprised that during an interrogation, the accused, Ravindra Shankar Sahu, revealed that his eldest daughter, Pooja, had been married twice before, but their marital relationship deteriorated due to disputes and ended in divorce. For some time, there had been daily disputes in the family regarding another man’s alleged illicit relationship with my daughter Pooja. My wife, Shyam Dulari, also made unfair accusations against me and my daughter Pooja, causing me mental stress.
Due to this family conflict and mental stress, he planned to murder his wife, Shyamdulari, and daughter Pooja. On the night of the incident, he secretly mixed sleeping pills in their tea and gave them both a drink. After they fell into a deep sleep, he strangled his wife, Shyamdulari, and then his daughter, Pooja, to death with a mobile charger cable. He realized his mistake after the incident.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police stated that teams were searching for the absconding accused in the murders of his wife and daughter. He was arrested on Saturday night. A case has been registered against him under serious sections and further action is being taken.
