Monu murder case: Youth beaten to death over money dispute, two arrested 🚨💰
Kanpur, May 2: A 29-year-old man working in a SIM card factory under the Cantonment police station area of the Kanpur city was murdered in a premeditated manner by his own friends last Saturday. He was first given alcohol and taken to a secluded location, where he was rendered helpless by spraying his eyes with a poison, and then beaten to death with sticks. Mutual disputes and financial pressure have emerged as the primary motives behind the crime. Police have arrested two accused in the case.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), East, Satyajeet Gupta, stated on Saturday that Monu, alias Kailash (about 29 years old), was murdered on the road leading to Narbijpur village on the night of April 26. Following the incident, a case was registered at the Cantonment police station, and several teams were formed, and an investigation was initiated based on surveillance and CCTV footage.
The DCP told that the investigation revealed that the deceased and the accused were SIM port operators. The deceased pressured his colleagues to pay BC (committee) fees and frequently abused and assaulted them. Frustrated by this, the two accused hatched a plan to eliminate him. A secluded location had been identified about a month prior. On the night of the incident, the accused offered Monu alcohol and took him to Narbijpur on the pretext of driving him there. Upon arriving, they sprayed fog into his eyes and face, rendering him unconscious. They then repeatedly attacked him with sticks, resulting in his death on the spot.
The officer informed that after the murder, the two accused fled the scene. Based on technical evidence and information from an informant, police raided the Chetan Ground and Gora Cemetery areas and arrested Bapan Pal and Atit Verma alias Kartik/Brijesh.
He concluded that the fog spray used in the crime, sticks, the deceased’s mobile phone, liquor cans, and the vehicle used in the crime were recovered from the accused. Additionally, a criminal case has already been filed against Atit Verma. Police have presented both of them in court and initiated further proceedings.
